- Climb a mountain Not a wussy mountain. Over 14,000 feet (gulp).
- Skydive I attempted this once and was foiled due to fog. However, I started scaring myself silly with worries of going splat. I can't let these worries stop me from doing something I've always wanted to do.
- Make a million dollars Living in the Silicon Valley, this apparently won't get me very far, but at least it's a starting point.
- Hang-glide I've always wanted to fly: nuff said.
- Bungee Jump
- Act in a movie
- Write a book The dork in me thinks it would be cool to write a book about my dream fulfilling if this blog goes well. But realistically, it could be a book on anything, but it would have to be able to show up in my local B&N.
- Live in another country for at least three months I didn't get to go abroad in college and I've regretted it ever since. Doesn't matter where; I just want a long enough time to assimilate (mostly) into a new culture.
- Backpack across Europe Another foiled college dream. This trip must be two weeks or longer (preferably longer).
- Scuba dive the great barrier reef I need to see it before it's gone.
- Open a restaurant Another childhood dream. I'm certainly not a culinary god, but I know what I like and I would love to open up something small somewhere to give the gift of good food.
- Sell a piece of art I may be a web designer, but I'm still an artist (albeit one who has ignored her charcoals for far too long). Must be an original piece of work, going for over $100.
- Become proficient in a martial art Badassery includes karate-chops.
- Become proficient in a musical instrument I can't think of a good benchmark for this one, but I would like to be good enough with an instrument to play most pieces of music.
- Complete a Century (100 mile bike race) I love biking, and this seems like a better idea than a marathon.
- Appear in a magazine Must be a fairly well-known magazine, in any subject
- Learn to surf Not much to say; just another way to be badass.
- Sing in a band to an audience I have a TERRIBLE voice, but I want to try this. It looks like such a rush.
- Build my dream house I've always been interested in architecture since I was a kid, and house plans particularily fascinated me. My dream house is probably going to be terribly expensive (needs to have a lot of land, trees, huge windows, large library) but someday I hope I'll have it. Note, I don't have to actually build it... but at least be involved in the planning.
- Learn another language I started learning French in High School but have since forgotten all but the very basics. When I relearn a language, it'll probably be French again, or perhaps Italian.
- Meet the President A handshake will do.
- Work a season of a renaissance faire I'm a giant nerd, and I ADORE ren faires. A season will be a bitch, but it'll be a great experience.
- Swim with dolphins Not those lame swim-a-lap-in-a-swimming-pool-and-you're-done places. Wild dolphins, or something at least a bit more real.
- Visit the Amazon The bugs will probably terrify me now (ew ew ew) but I should see it before it's destroyed.
- Visit the North Pole Brrrrr!
- Hike the Pacific Crest Trail Don't think I'll ever actually be able to do the entire trail (6 to 8 months!). Two weeks on the trail will probably be good enough.
- Dogsled Not many requirements here; just have the experience to be on a dogsled.
- Learn to sail Learn the basics of sailing and be able to maneuver a small craft by myself.
- Learn to read Latin I realize this is kind of a defunct skill now, but it's one of those childhood dreams.
- Attend the Oscars Glamour dream. I could be in the nosebleeds, but I'd love to just be there.
- Be in Times Square for New Years It looks like such a rush, to be surrounded by so many partying people. I've never actually been at a party for New Years, so this will be a big jump for me.
- Attend a movie premier Must be a large, national movie with a red carpet.
- Snowshoe One of those simple tasks I've never managed to do.
- Compete in a triathlon Back in the day I used to volunteer for TriCalifornia, a company that organizes triathlons around California. Seeing that I know how dead everyone looks crossing the finish line, I shouldn't really want to throw myself into one... but it would certainly be a great achievement. This will NOT be an Ironman.
- Live in the south of France for awhile This could be combined with my wish to live abroad for three months. France is gorgeous, and I would love to be able to spend some time there.
- Get a motorcycle license Dangerous but freakin' awesome.
- Attend Burning ManSometimes I wonder whether I have the disposition to attend Burning Man, and whether the festival is really as great as I heard it used to be. Still on the list from my teenage years, though.
- See the Northern Lights Nuff' said.
- Take a hot air balloon ride Preferably over the Napa Valley.
- Pierce something other than my earlobes For awhile I really wanted an eyebrow piercing or a lip ring. I've also want to re-pierce my cartilage (which was torn last time... ouch!)
- Achieve a healthy BMI My weight is not healthy (according to my body fat percentage, not my self-esteem) and it tears me up inside to know this. Diets tend to fail on me but someday I'll get my weight down.
- Pet a tiger ...while keeping my hand intact.
- Run a mile in less than 10 minutes I run a mile, currently, around 12:30.
- Own a business Doesn't matter what, whether it's the restaurant named above or something else.
- Own my own house Could be my "dream house" or it could be another house that I've bought. I could be paying mortgage payments, however.
- Spend a night in a haunted house I have a wild imagination, so this will be extremely tough.
- Learn to dance Salsa, swing, ballroom; something structured so I don't look like a total dork on a dance floor.
- Save a life I hesitated to put this on here because I'd first have to be in a situation where I have to save a life, but here it is.
- Speak at a conference I go to plenty conferences about web design and would love to be a speaker at one (any type). Conference should be rather large, not a small and regional conference.
- Do a cartwheel I've never had the strength, even when I was little, to do a cartwheel. This must be rectified.
- Ride a unicycle Ride a unicycle well enough that I don't immediately fall on my face.
- Work a day at Charm City Cakes I'm kinda a fan of the show. I'm an artist! I can help!
- Brew beer Any kind, but I particularly enjoy wheat beers.
- Grow wine grapes and bottle wine Unfortunately, this one will depend mostly on where I am living at the time.
- Learn how to shoot a gun I don't want to own a gun (ever), but I think it's important to know how to properly wield one. You know, just in case of zombie hordes (where an axe actually might do more good, but I digress).
This absolutely scares me to death. But it was part of my original dream list when I was little, so I can't strike it out now.
...Heh. See, I'm really shy. But ever since I walked by a movie set in Calistoga, Ca (Rob Schneider movie. Not even that glamorous), I've wanted to be a part of a movie. Note: I don't need major billing, but it can't be just playing an extra. Something that I would have to audition for.
